Batac, Ilocos Norte – The Department of Science and Technology – Industrial Technology Development Institute (DOST-ITDI) showcased its science and technology (S&T) innovations and devices known as “green engineering technologies” to prospective business and industry sectors during the National Inventors’ Week in Ilocandia.

The S&T offerings, one of which is the Electric Plastic Densifier, is part of President Rodrigo Roa Duterte’s 0 + 10 point socioeconomic agenda to “promote science, technology, and the creative arts to enhance innovation and capacity towards self-sustaining, inclusive development.

ITDI has an array of six green engineering technologies such as the charcoal briquettes from fruit/rootcrop peels; compact wastewater treatment system design; dual-drum composter equipment design for solid waste management; electric densifier; 4C composite technology for oil spill remediation; and the abaca fiber-reinforced composite.

The fourth green tech electric densifier is a spin-off from ITDI’s previous melting oven densifier that uses waste cooking oil that has now become a commercial commodity.

ITDI staff explains to exhibit viewers the functionality of the electric plastic densifier.

The technology institute expounded that this new design is a single screw electric densifier that requires no oil compared with its earlier version. Alternative products from the melted plastic wastes can be developed.

It also expressed optimism of expanding partnerships with the public and private sectors particularly for the development of technology-based enterprises.

ELECTRIC PLASTIC DENSIFIER

✴️ Single screw electric densifier that do not require oil for the production of alternative products from waste plastics.

✴️ It is a spin-off from ITDI’s previous melting oven that uses waste cooking oil that has now become a commercial commodity.

✴️ Alternative products from the melted plastic wastes can be developed.

✴️ Low-cost and affordable, portable
